All you knead is loaf

I first met Mat a few years back at a neighborhood block party. He and his wife have a son just a little older than my oldest child so we could share many relatable stories. This past Fall I got the honor of capturing a family session for their beautiful family and after that session, Mat asked if I'd be interested in doing some product photography for his bread mix business, One T Mixcraft. Interested? Heck yes. Brand new to the idea of product photography so super nervous? Also yes. But I was ready to rise to the occasion. (See what I did there - *rise*...like bread?)

We set up a meeting in January to discuss all the details and set our session for a date in February. We had MANY, MANY ideas of how to best show off his bread mixes and we were definitely on the same page. A couple weeks later, I showed up to his house with all my lighting and camera gear and we were bready to go!

We did photos of the bread with and without beer, whole and sliced, solo and staged with all of the delicious ingredients! I think my favorite shots are the ones with all of the ingredients scattered about. It was a great way to utilize my creativity in a way that is different from my typical portrait sessions.

Although I do love a good close-up too! Looks good enough to eat! (And I'm not going to lie - I did snack on some while shooting. SO GOOD!)

We got so many great shots, that I struggled to narrow them down. I'm even struggling to pick my favorites for this blog! But I'm trying to save some surprises for Mat to share on his own.

Did I mention he has a brownie mix too? It is just the right amount of decadent!

At the end of the session, we played around with all of the loaves and slices to create some dynamic images that showcase all eleven of his flavors: Classic, Apple Fritter, Brownie, Cinnamon Raisin, Everything Bagel, Lemon Poppyseed, Lemon Blueberry, Orange Cranberry, Pumpkin Spice, Roasted Garlic & Herb, and Zesty Jalapeno!

I even took photos in a quick succession in order to create some pretty sweet gifs, which if you came to this blog through my social media, you've already seen one!

And while, of course, most of the images included a clear shot of the bread and mix bag - you know I had to get a little creative and switch up my focus from time to time. One of my favorite examples of this is in the above photo where I was able to focus on a single clove! Pretty sure I did a little happy dance after this one!

It was a great day, full of carbs (which I will NEVER complain about having too many carbs). I can't wait to see how these images help Mat get the word out about his amazing bread mixes, and if this post made you hungry -- check out his website at www.onetmixcraft.com -- and order your own bread mixes today!
